What is a Comprehensive-Body Scan?

A full-body MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) scan is a non-invasive, radiation-free medical imaging procedure designed to capture detailed, high-resolution cross-sectional images of your body's internal organ systems.

A collection of X-rays showing various body parts and conditions

Unlike traditional X-rays or CT scans, MRI technology utilizes strong magnetic fields and radio waves to visualize soft tissues, organs, and vascular structures without exposing the body to ionizing radiation.

As a proactive screening tool, a full-body scan allows for the early identification of potential anatomical abnormalities, tissue changes, or asymptomatic conditions before physical symptoms present themselves. Performed locally on-site at MIC Imaging Center, your scan images are securely transmitted to and thoroughly reviewed by Ezra’s board-certified radiology team.

  • X-rays involve exposure to a small amount of radiation. While the dose is low and generally considered safe, it's important to inform your doctor if you’re pregnant or might be pregnant.

  • During the X-ray, you'll be asked to stand or lie in specific positions to get the best images. You may need to hold still and sometimes hold your breath briefly.

  • The X-ray process typically takes just a few minutes.

  • The procedure is painless, though you may need to hold a position that feels a bit uncomfortable for a short time.

Important things to know about comprehensive-body scans

  • A comprehensive-body scan takes approximately 22 minutes to complete. Adding a spinal scan increases the time to approximately 47 minutes.

  • Our non-invasive full-body MRI provides comprehensive screening for signs of hundreds of potential conditions across your vital organ systems:

    • Brain & Neck: Brain, Thyroid

    • Upper Abdomen: Liver, Gallbladder, Pancreas, Spleen

    • Renal & Endocrine: Kidneys, Adrenal Glands, Bladder

    • Pelvic Health: Ovaries, Uterus, Prostate

    • Spine (Optional Tier): Complete spine imaging

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a doctor’s referral to schedule a comprehensive-body scan?

Not at MIC Imaging Centers! You can book your appointment directly online without a physician’s order.

Is this service covered by insurance?

This is a cash-pay screening service designed to eliminate insurance hassles, claim denials, and surprise bills. Both options are fully HSA/FSA eligible.

Who reads and interprets my imaging results?

Your scan is performed locally at MIC and then reviewed by Ezra’s board-certified radiology team.

How is this different from a standard diagnostic MRI?

Diagnostic MRIs focus on specific areas following an injury or symptom and require a referral. The Ezra full-body scan is a proactive screening tool for early detection across multiple organ systems without needing a symptom or referral.

How to prepare for your comprehensive-body scan?

Preparing for your comprehensive-body MRI scan at MIC Imaging Center is simple and straightforward. On the day of your appointment, wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that is free of metal zippers, snaps, buttons, or underwires, as strong magnetic fields are used during imaging. You will be asked to remove any jewelry, watches, glasses, and metal accessories prior to entering the scan room. For most full-body screening scans, no special fasting is required, though it is recommended to stay well-hydrated throughout the day. Please arrive about 15 minutes before your scheduled time so our local team can complete your easy check-in process and ensure you are comfortable before your scan begins.
